Debt collection in the Netherlands

Debt collection without court intervention (amicable collection) is free for our clients. This is because, in addition to the invoice amount, the debtor is also required to pay collection fees and interest. In 90% of cases, a debtor will end up paying your outstanding invoice.

There are 3 possible scenarios:

Debtor pays the full claim
(incl. interest and collection fees)
Debtor makes a partial payment Debtor does not pay
You receive the full invoice amount. You receive the partial payment, minus a percentage as a fee for our collection services. You receive nothing.
We receive the interest + collection fees for our services. We will continue to collect the remaining balance of the claim (incl. interest and collection fees). If we are unsuccessful, we will charge a commission as compensation for our collection services*. We charge no fees.

What happens if I cancel the claim mid-process?

If you withdraw the claim before the process is completed, the fee for our services (the collection costs) will be charged to you.

What happens if my customer disagrees with the invoice?

If your customer does not agree with the invoice—for example, due to an issue with the delivery of goods or services, or if the invoice is incorrect—the invoice is considered 'disputed' by the customer. Because handling a disputed invoice is more intensive, you are required to pay a percentage in commission on the amount collected. If your customer pays the entire claim, you naturally do not need to pay any commission.

*) If I have to pay a commission, how much is it?

If an invoice is disputed, or if your customer does not pay the full amount, you must pay a percentage in commission on the amount received. This commission serves as compensation for our collection services and ranges between 5% and 15%, depending on the invoice amount.

Of course, we will always continue to pursue the collection of the full claim from your customer, and in most cases, customers end up paying the entire amount.

On-site debt collection visit

If our collection efforts have unfortunately not led to payment, it can be effective to visit the debtor in person. A specially trained mediator will visit your debtor on-site.

The goal of the visit is to find a solution for the payment arrears. Afterward, the mediator will provide a detailed report.

The cost for an on-site visit is €100.

International debt collection

Thanks to our reliable network of international partners, we can also effectively reach your debtors abroad. Due to differences in legislation, regulations, and customs, costs for international debt collection differ from those within the Netherlands.

We apply specific rules for international collection:

  • Depending on the country, case filing fees may apply, which must be paid in advance.
  • Depending on the invoice amount, a specific commission will be charged.
  • Depending on the country, there may be a minimum principal amount.

Do you have non-paying customers abroad? Send an email or call us at +31 348 782 082 to discover the possibilities.
